People aged 65 and over now have an excellent opportunity to take care of their health and heart wellbeing more easily than before. The freedom‑of‑choice pilot allows you to visit a private general practitioner at the same price as a public healthcare client fee (€30.20), and Sydänkeskus is participating in providing this service.

What is the 65+ freedom‑of‑choice pilot?

The freedom‑of‑choice pilot is a nationwide initiative aimed at improving access to care and increasing older adults’ opportunities to see a doctor more quickly. A participant aged 65 or over can choose a private service provider, such as Sydänkeskus, for a doctor’s appointment.

This means that you can visit a doctor in the private sector but pay only the same client fee as in a municipal health centre (in 2026 the fee is €30.20).

What does the service include?

At the freedom‑of‑choice appointment at Sydänkeskus, you can see a doctor at the price of the public healthcare client fee. During the appointment, the doctor will assess your health and plan any further examinations or treatment as needed.

As part of the pilot, Sydänkeskus can also perform an ECG test at a price of €23.50 based on the doctor’s assessment.

The freedom‑of‑choice appointment does not cover specialist examinations such as cardiac ultrasound or exercise stress tests. Examinations not included in the pilot are charged according to the Sydänkeskus price list.

The service is particularly suitable for those who want to monitor their health, manage risk factors (such as blood pressure and cholesterol), or seek examinations with a low threshold.
