Cardiac ECG, or heart film

An ECG (electrocardiogram), or heart film, is a common basic examination that provides a lot of information about the electrical activity and structure of the heart. The ECG is easy to do during a visit to the cardiologist.

How a heart film is made

Electrode stickers are applied to clean skin, the chest and both wrists and ankles. Men will often have some of their chest hair removed because it interferes with the electrodes.
